This section will address arrears of Health, Safety and wellbeing that are supportive to dietitians and representatives. It also covers areas of BDA involvement at a higher level than the workplace.
One area of Health and Safety that affects dietitians is the issues in relation to the dietetic office especially temperature, overcrowding or security.
The TUC (to which the BDA is affiliated) have produced guidance on Office Health and Safety to assist members addressing this issue along with extra material that covers specific aspects of office safety.

The BDA have produced guidance on Working Alone in Safety to assist members addressing this issue.
The TUC’s “Safety Representatives and Safety Committees” (Brown Book) is a handbook for BDA Trade Union Representatives (who are also BDA Health and Safety Representatives) and provides information on the Regulations, Codes of Practice and guidance relating to the Health and Safety Representatives and Safety Committees Regulations, 1977.
This booklet also lists all other health and safety legislation that requires employers to consult with employees or safety representatives.
The TUC’s “Work and Well Being A Trade Union Resource" is a handbook for BDA Trade Union Representatives (who are also BDA Health and Safety Representatives) and provides information on the Regulations, Codes of Practice and guidance relating to Work and Well Being in the workplace.
The TUC’s “TUC Guidance on Tacking Workplace Stress” is guidance for BDA Trade Union Representatives (who are also BDA Health and Safety Representatives) and will help organisations identify practical solutions to the problem.
