About us
The BDA Haematology Sub-Group is part of the Oncology specialist group; it was formed by a group of dietitians working with patients diagnosed with haematological cancers and non-malignant blood disorders.
Membership of the group is on an individual basis. We currently have nearly 100 members, and we welcome new members to join the group to network.
The group is often approached to comment on national documents or to be involved in projects such as the updating of the Safer eating with neutropenia policy statement, the updating of Bloodwise / Anthony Nolan patient information booklets.
Aims
The aims are:
- To provide a network for dietitians working in Haematology.
- To influence national policy and guidance with respect to nutrition and haematological conditions.
- To provide an environment for dietitians and other health care professionals to learn about nutrition and Haematology through study days and newsletters.
- To provide advice to charities and other organisations with respect to nutrition and haematology.
- Help facilitate research and audit amongst members of the group.
- Support the development of materials on nutrition and haematology such as newsletters, standards, guidance or patient information.
