First Contact Dietitians Specialist Group - Q&A session
This was our first event as a brand-new Specialist Group, a Q&A session with some of our brilliant committee members who have completed the First Contact Practice roadmap via the taught and portfolio route and in different specialities. We also had attendance from one of the universities offering the course, to answer questions. This webinar provides a chance to learn more about the roadmap, how to navigate it, and tips to help you complete it and successfully qualify as an FCD.
Speakers
- Joe Alvarez - (Shoreditch Park and City PCN) moved from community Dietetics into a PCN Role 3 years ago and is now based in the City of London and Hackney. Joe works as a generalist but my specialist area is gastroenterology and this is my focus of his first contact practice. He is the Chair of the FCD Specialist Group and EDI Lead for CAHPR West Midlands. Joe is also currently completing the Non-Medical Prescribing course at UEL to qualify as a supplementary prescriber.
- Rebecca Gasche - First Contact Dietitian (Chester South PCN). Rebecca will be discussing her experience in completing stage 1 & 2 via the taught route and practising as a first contact dietitian since March 2022. She is also a roadmap supervisor for Primary Care Dietitians.
- Juliette Richardson - First Contact Dietitian in East Surrey (First Community Health and Care CIC), completed portfolio route November 2023. Juliette works as a generalist offering first contact and PCN Dietitian services to adults and children in primary care.
- Kim Bowra, First Contact Dietitian, Bexhill. Her clinical remit is within frailty and gastroenterology and she completed the FCP roadmap in September 2023.
Kim and Juliette disussed their experiences in completing the portfolio route, this was complemented by attendance from a representative from AECC (one of the universities offering the new university supported portfolio route).
The panel included the speakers plus a representative from AECC Uni involved with FCP Supported Portfolio Route who attended to answer any questions about the course.
