Sophie Harries
After graduating from the University of Plymouth in 2018 with my undergraduate degree in Dietetics, I worked as a dietitian across many clinical settings competing both inpatient and outpatient work. My specialisms then developed in Neurosciences and Gastroenterology, contributing to national guidance documents for both Stroke and Parkinson's Disease.
Whilst completing my Masters within Applied Sports Nutrition at St Mary's University, I worked with Bridgwater United Women's Football team and Yeovil Town Senior Men's Football team. These opportunities have allowed me to progress onto studying for a PhD with Derby County Football Club surrounding football recovery strategies and fatigue.
I additionally work with athletes at both the University of Birmingham and Loughborough University as part of their Youth Talent pathway, England Athletics hub and TASS program. On an ad hoc basis I deliver nutrition education sessions for Swim England clubs and athletes.
I strongly believe in an athlete focussed approach and that food is not just for fuel but also enjoyment, utilising both of these aspects along with motivational interviewing strategies to help faciliate lifelong chnage.
