Siobhan O'Brien
Hello, my name is Siobhan O’Brien and I have 27 years’ experience working across the NHS and freelance dietetics (part of the SunlightNutrition team). I am passionate about food and nutrition and its effect on our health, our wellbeing, and its role in sports performance. I aim to support individuals achieve and maintain good relationships with food.
I am experienced working in many settings, including wardwork, outpatients, home visits and as part of multidisciplinary teams. My areas of expertise include diabetes (clinical lead diabetes specialist in a large teaching hospital and DAFNE trained), women’s health and menopause (group and individual work, webinars for workplaces), weight management, nutrition support (published in medical journals) and I am a qualified sports nutritionist. I believe in keeping active and want to support others in achieving these goals, whether your goal is to walk for 30 mins without getting out of breath or to complete an ultramarathon or full Ironman (personally completed in 2018 and 2017 respectively). I provide nutrition support for people incorporating resistance training, whether that is to help combat the effect of menopause, aging, or to compete in strongman competitions.
Alongside my clinical work, I facilitate on behaviour change training for health care professionals. I always put the person at the centre of any dietetic intervention and would be happy to help you to set clear, achievable goals and support you working towards them.
