A recent journal article published in BMC Health Services Research explores Allied Health Professions (AHP) support worker perceptions of feeling valued and to understand what factors contribute to this feeling of “value”.

Authored by Abigail Hall, Victoria Goodwin, Lorraine Allchurch, Luke Capon, Vicky Farrell, Oludare Olufunmilayo and Richard Griffin, the paper highlights the contributions of AHP support workers and highlights the critical importance of recognising their multifaceted roles within the NHS healthcare system, whilst acknowledging the numerous challenges they face in these roles.

The paper emphasises the importance of ensuring our support workforce is recognised, empowered and included both in departmental teams, and more broadly within the profession. It highlights the need to provide opportunities for ongoing learning and professional development, to this integral area of our workforce, to foster resilience and empowerment, and to ensure the continued provision of high-quality service user care.
