Last week the Prime Minister announced plans to abolish NHS England, to bring management of the NHS "back into democratic control".
We are acutely aware that this has been an unsettling few days for those members working within NHS England (NHSE) and in integrated care boards (ICBs).
We are concerned that following weeks of speculation about the extent of potential cuts, the decision to abolish NHSE was announced without prior warning.
We are working closely with other health unions to press for meaningful engagement in the spirit of partnership to ensure that the rights of workers are adhered to, and that allied health professionals are rightly and properly represented in any new structures at the Department for Health and Social Care.
We are in the process of identifying relevant members and will be communicating directly to provide any further information as it becomes available.
The BDA Trade Union is ready to provide support to members during this uncertain and worrying time. We would like to request that members ensure that all contact details, including workplace and employer information is up to date on My BDA.
