BDA joins sister health unions in accepting pay offer in Northern Ireland

Following our recent consultative ballot, BDA members in NI health and social care have voted overwhelmingly to accept the pay offer with a result of 99% in favour.
Annette Mansell-Green, Director of Trade Union and Public Affairs at the BDA said “we are delighted that at long last our hard working members will receive the recognition that they deserve. Dietitians are an integral part of the health service, delivering expert care to patients, and have been under valued for too long. It has been a fight to achieve pay parity with our members in England and one which we could not have won without the determination of our members and the solidarity of our sister unions. I hope that we can see swift implementation of the agreement and that our members can receive the pay due to them without further delay.”
There is still work to be done to ensure that improvements are made to the working lives of members, and we will continue to press for positive change especially the priority issue of safe staffing.
The BDA attended the annual TUC Women’s Conference, held from 5-7 March in London. It was a truly inspiring and empowering event, bringing together passionate individuals dedicated to driving positive change for women in the workplace and beyond.
Last week the Prime Minister announced plans to abolish NHS England, to bring management of the NHS "back into democratic control". We are acutely aware that this has been an unsettling few days for those members working within NHSE.
The Northern Ireland Department of Health has finally accepted the Pay Review Bodies recommendations on pay for HSC staff on Agenda for Change terms and conditions for 2024/25.
The 2024 NHS Pay Review Body (PRB) report has now been published and the BDA is pleased to see that the government has agreed to implement the recommended 5.5% pay award for Agenda for Change staff in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
