The BDA is to begin consulting members in NHS Scotland on a pay offer of 5%.
The joint staff side trade unions have been in negotiation with the Scottish Government following a claim for an above inflation pay award for 2022/23.
Annette Mansell-Green, Director of Trade Union and Public Affairs at the BDA said: "This comes at a time of deep economic crisis leading to many NHS workers struggling to afford the basic costs of living and having to make difficult decisions on whether to pay for utilities, fuel to get to work and food. We are disappointed that the offer falls well short of our claim especially as inflation currently stands at around 9%.
"Dietitians have worked tirelessly during the pandemic and expect the years of pay shortfall to be compensated fairly with at least enough to provide a decent, worry-free standard of living. Above all, our members deserve to feel valued for their hard work and dedication."
Detailed information on the offer can be found here.
Members will receive an email shortly inviting them respond to the consultation and it is important that we have as many returns as possible so that we can make as informed a decision as possible on next steps.
