New HCPC Standards of Conduct, Performance and Ethics

01 Sep 2024

The Health and Care Professions Council’s (HCPC) revised Standards of Conduct, Performance and Ethics, which all dietitians should have an awareness of are now in effect.

The HCPC regularly reviews their standards to ensure they remain relevant to current practice and can be clearly understood by those who use them. The most recent review began in 2022 and included a consultation process which was open to individual registrants, as well as organisations and included a response from the BDA.

The updated standards have a key focus on the following areas:

  • Equity, diversity and belonging
  • communication
  • duty of candour
  • upskilling and training responsibilities
  • managing existing health conditions and disabilities in the workplace
  • sustainability

You can find full details of the revised and new standards here, including updates to the HCPC guidance on social media which links to the Standards of Conduct, Performance and Ethics.
