Food Allergy Study Day 2024 - Practical food allergy recordings

The virtual study day aimed to look and capture current evidence and practical guidance on food allergies. The content is aimed at dietitians working across all services of allergy, from paediatric to adults including milk allergy through the ages, emerging allergens, food labelling, immunotherapy and current research.

As there is sparse research into adult CMPA, particularly non-IgE CMPA, this talk will focus on 2 case studies of adult patients seen in clinic exhibiting symptoms of CMPA and how a clinical judgment was made.

Food allergen avoidance depends on accessible and accurate information about ingredients including regulated allergens as well as understanding the unintended presence of other allergens. Whether printed on packaging, written on menus or boards, listed on platforms and apps, communicated orally by staff, face to face or on the phone, or by email or message, identifying allergens in food or drink is critical for consumer safety and is regulated by law.

  • Lipid transfer protein allergy: diagnosis & management with Hannah Hunter, Adult Allergy Dietitian, Guy’s & St Thomas

LTP allergy is being increasingly recognised in the UK in both adults and paediatrics. Due to its many complexities there are multiple challenges associated with both diagnosis and management. Appropriate dietary management is essential to minimise risks of allergic reactions whilst avoiding over-restriction. This presentation will focus on key features of LTP allergy, differentiating sensitisation vs allergy, foods involved, and patient/ family education.
