CPD Together Joint Statement

What is CPD Together and the CPD Joint Statement?

The BDA are working with the Interprofessional CPD and Lifelong Learning UK Working Group, know known as CPD Together, and are fully supportive of the 5 key principles of the CPD Together Joint Statement produced by the group. The joint statement recognises and promotes the importance of defining the shared responsibilities that individuals, employers and wider system stakeholders have in supporting CPD and lifelong learning across all dietetic settings including Health and Social Care.

As defined within the CPD Joint Statement:

Applying the 5 Principles to Dietetics.

Applying these priciples to dietetics, you can reflect shared responsibilities for:

  • Individuals to recognise and demonstrate the effect of CPD and lifelong learning on dietetic practice
  • Employers (if this applies) to actively invest in people and provide opportunities for CPD and lifelong learning; and,
  • The wider system to support the health and social care dietetic workforce and improve the safety and quality of services by investing in and developing the workforce.

Using the Joint Statement in Practice

Across dietietic practice you can use the CPD Joint Statement to ask yourself:

  • Do I understand what CPD and Lifelong learning means in relation to my dietetic practice?
  • Do I understand the roles and responsibilities of myself, my employer and wider stakeholders?
  • How can I positively engage with my employer and wider stakeholders in the development of my CPD & Lifelong learning?
  • What type of activities can be included within my own CPD and Lifelong learning?
  • What do I keep as a record of my CPD & Lifelong learning and how can my employer support me to do this?
