In order to assure the protection of the BDA’s mark of approval, all resources must meet our standards for BDA CPD Approval and providers must agree to the BDA Approval Terms and Conditions.
The BDA requires that consideration of the following elements must be explicitly demonstrated through the application process:
- The learning activity must have clearly defined nutrition/dietetic based objectives/learning outcomes, and these must be clearly outlined.
- The content must apply evidence appropriately and in line with best practice and guidelines.
- The content must be clearly and appropriately referenced to scientific evidence and/or professional practice, with up-to-date links and sources of information clearly indicated.
- The design, format and content of the learning activity or resource must be appropriate and contribute to the development of the participant or support their practice.
- The content should be appropriately linked to BDA guidance and our Policy and Position statements.
- The resource must be developed, managed and delivered by an appropriately qualified and experienced professional, as determined by the BDA.
- The learning activity must have been peer reviewed by an appropriately qualified and experienced professional.
- The learning activity and those developing/delivering the content must do so in compliance with the BDA Code of Conduct.
- Equality, diversity and inclusion must have been taken into account when developing the content and deciding the format for delivery. This includes the images, and terminology used.
- The learning activity must be accessible to all, irrespective of gender, race, social class, disability, religion, marital status or sexual orientation. Where courses require a prerequisite knowledge, this will be stated and where relevant an explanation will be provided.
- All partnership/sponsorship arrangements must be explicitly specified.
- The audience must be clearly outlined and defined.
- The evaluation of the learning activity must be clearly outlined and follow a robust process relevant to the activity.
