The BDA have partnered with Symprove to offer members a free 12-week programme of the probiotic.
We know that the dietetic workforce are often asked about different probiotics and supplements, and that you may not have had a chance to try Symprove as it's not available in supermarkets or on the high street.
This offer starts from 19 April and is available to any UK based member of the BDA* but hurry as there are a limited number available!
You can try Symprove in 5 easy steps:
Step 1 - Complete the survey: Symprove have set up a custom ordering process for BDA members, with 2 sections for our members to complete. In the first section you use your BDA membership number** as unique identifier and answer two demographic questions. From there you will be asked about your reasons for wanting to try Symprove, including existing IBS or digestive issues, or just wanting to try it. There is no 'screening out' at this stage and all members will be provided with the free programme. You will be sent another quick survey at 12 weeks. If you choose existing IBS/digestive issues, you'll be asked to complete a few extra questions around your experience.
Step 2: Finalise your order of Symprove. In the second section, you will finalise your free order and provide delivery details. The product for the 12-week programme period is sent in one delivery, usually as a next day order, so please aim to complete the form with details of an address where the delivery will be accepted within the next 2-3 days. This order information uses the Symprove consumer website and the information you supply here stored and processed separately to the first section. You will choose your flavour preferences here and then add your 12-week pack to the basket. At the checkout enter your BDA membership number as a unique discount code with BDA as a prefix (i.e. BDA1234), which will zero the balance, and then continue to enter the delivery address details.
Step 3: Take Symprove every day. Your confirmation email from Symprove will include information about the product, including research (this may be sent in two separate emails). We're also hosting three drop in Symprove sessions, so you can understand the evidence behind the probiotic, so sign up for those via the confirmation email (or below if you'd like to attend but not to be part of the free trial).
Step 4: All members who place an order for the free programme will be asked questions around the accepyability of Symprove and the value of this type of initiative to support members' practice. If you selected 'IBS' or 'Digestive Issues' then your final survey will also allow you to compare before and after using the IBS-SSS tool.
Step 5: Receive the report. If you completed the pre and post IBS surveys, you will receive a personalised report by email.
This initiative is being set up to support members who are interested in trying Symprove (for themselves or to support their practice) to access it in an easy way. We are not designing it to secure 'endorsement' for Symprove from dietitians. These key principles are being applied:
We're holding three 30 minute drop-in sessions with the Symprove team
