How to prepare for your upgrade to graduate membership

Ensuring your membership details are accurate and up to date will make your transition to graduate membership smooth and hassle-free. The transition happens automatically on the 1st of the month following your recorded course completion date.

Is your graduation date correct?

Student and Associate memberships are automatically upgraded to graduate membership on the 1st of the month following your graduation date, as recorded in your MyBDA area. You’ll be provided with advanced warning of this via email nearer the time.

If your course completion date has been delayed for any reason, you can update this easily via your MyBDA portal which will delay the activation of your graduate membership accordingly. Please be aware that if your graduate membership upgrade is due in less than 1 month, you’ll need to email [email protected] for further assistance if you'd like to change this.

Are you happy with your payment method?

Your payment method for graduate membership will be the same as your student membership i.e. annual/monthly direct debit or credit card.

If you’d like to change your payment method, this can be actioned easily via your MyBDA portal. Again, please note that if your upgrade is due in less than 1 month, you will need to email [email protected] so we can action this on your behalf.  

Key points:
  • If you currently pay by credit card, payment will need to be made within a month of your upgrade to avoid your membership lapsing. A payment link will be emailed to you in advance, however you can view pending payments at any time via the Membership History page in your MyBDA area.
  • If you pay by annual direct debit, your full membership fee will be collected from your registered bank account on the 1st of the month your graduate membership begins.
  • If you pay by monthly direct debit, your first membership instalment will be collected from your registered bank account on the 1st of the month your graduate membership begins.

Is your postal address up to date?

If you’ve moved back home after finishing your course or changed your address for any other reason, please make sure your current details are correct.

Your graduate welcome pack and copies of Dietetics Today magazine will be sent to the postal address we have on file.

If the email address in your BDA account is linked to your university, please update it to your personal email as soon as possible to ensure you continue receiving important updates.

Change of plans?

If you’ve finished your course but no longer wish to upgrade or continue your membership, you can cancel at the end of your membership year.

Simply email [email protected] with your cancellation request, and our team will be happy to assist you.
