Should your direct debit fail, a further collection attempt will be made a week or so later. Should it fail again, you will receive an email to advise your membership will enter lapsed status.
Yes, you can change your payment method to monthly or annual direct debit via your MyBDA area at least 1 month prior to your course end date when your membership will be upgraded. If you would prefer to pay by credit card, please email [email protected] for further assistance.
Paying by direct debit is cheaper and ensures that your membership payments are collected automatically, leaving you with one less thing to remember!
You can update your postal address and email by logging into your MyBDA account and navigating to the ‘Update My Profile’ section.
In accordance with our membership bylaws, all BDA memberships are for one full calendar year, and membership must be upheld for this full period. Members are able to resign from the BDA once their full membership year payment has been settled in full. Members may wish to change to one of our Change of Circumstance categories where eligible.
Update your course end date in the ‘Work and Education’ section of your MyBDA portal at least 1 month prior to the original date to ensure your graduate membership is activated at the correct time.
You can view your membership history and manage your payment details through the ‘Membership History’ and ‘Change my direct debit details’ sections in your MyBDA account. Please note that if your payment method is updated that this change will not come into effect until your next renewal.

The transition happens automatically on the 1st of the month following your recorded graduation date. Ensure your graduation date is up to date in your MyBDA portal.
Failure to update your details may delay the activation of your graduate membership and result in missing out on new benefits like the graduate welcome pack or physical copies of Dietetics Today magazine. Alternatively, you may still be in education when your graduate membership fee is automatically collected.

PEN® is free for BDA members. Sign up separately using your membership number on the PEN website to gain access.
