The value of dietetics can’t always be quantified, but it can always be felt.
It lives in the interactions you have daily with your patients and clients, making their lives feel that little bit easier. It’s in the support you give colleagues and students to build confidence and ease burdens. It’s in the idea you had for a new piece of research, as well as a myriad of other things you do, without even noticing.
These interactions are not always seismic, but their outcomes can be profound. They can be the difference between uncertainty and hope, or being poorly and living a full and healthy life.
A dietetic career is more than just a job. It’s a vocation grounded in empathy, science and service. At its heart is your commitment to improve people’s lives, whether it be through education, research, advocacy or providing the best care you can.
The pressures are real though. You tell us you are understaffed and overworked. But, as with any vocation, you keep showing up, because you care.
This Dietitians Week, in our special 90th year, we celebrate what it means to be a part of this profession with purpose and honour the impact you have every day.
Dietitians Week is a chance for us to all come together and shout loud and proud about what you do and the importance of your work. Every year we’re so impressed with all of the fun activities you run and you get more and more inventive every year.
We'll be sharing more over the next few weeks but here's our daily themes to get your creative juices flowing!
Monday - Our vocation
Was it a calling, a love of food or a desire to care for others? Tell us your why.
Tuesday - Our work
Why is dietetics more than just a job? Explore your role, the challenges you navigate and the moments that remind you why this work matters.
Wednesday – Our celebration
Share your wins - big and small. High five your colleagues or professional pals who support and inspire you.
Thursday - Our impact
From small interactions to huge shifts, how can we make the value of dietetics more visible? Share the difference your work makes.
Friday - Our people
It’s time to put yourself or your amazing team in the spotlight. We want to see your faces! Best photo of the day wins a prize!
It’s time to get creative for your chance to win a FREE place on one of our classroom courses* worth up to £200.
Create a video representing your work in 60 seconds. Think outside the box to capture the essence of your role as a dietitian, member of the support workforce, researcher, educator, volunteer on a committee, union representative etc…
You can make it funny, heart-felt, serious – what ever you like! We’re just on the look out for something that truly captures dietetics and your role within it.
The only rule is that it needs to be 60 seconds!
*Exclusions apply. The free course place is for one-day courses only and can’t be used on a sold-out course. The prize must be claimed before the end of 2026.
The prize is for one place on a course, so the videos should be individual.
The videos will be judged by a panel of BDA staff and one winner will be picked and notified during Dietitians Week.
The video must be shared on Instagram. By tagging in the BDA you agree for us to share your video on social media.
