Sarah Airey
MSc
Sarah Airey is a specialist dietitian with over 23 years clinical experience working as a dietitian in the NHS. She has specialised in treating people with heart and lung conditions for the last 14 years, where she provided nutrition advice and interventions for adults with a variety of medical issues. She values helping people improve their health through nutrition and finds that working in private practice allows the time needed to understand each individual’s needs to be able to deliver a high quality service.
Sarah has specialist knowledge and skills in nutrition assessments and the treatment of malnutrition. She has a keen interest in nutrition in later life. Including the impact nutrition has on muscle loss and function, leading to weakness and frailty.
Poor diets adversely affect lung function and the progression of lung disease but nutrition does not always get the attention it deserves. Sarah is passionate about raising awareness and promoting the benefits of the integration of nutrition screening and treatment into the clinical management of people with respiratory conditions. She has observed how having lung disease can negatively impact on nutrition and wants to combine her knowledge, experience, and enthusiasm to make a difference to this group.
Sarah completed her Bachelor’s of Science degree in Nutrition and Dietetics in 2000, at Kings College University, London. She has a love for learning and recently completed Master’s degree modules in Research Methodology, Pathophysiology, and Advanced Clinical Assessment Skills. She is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
