Rachael Colley
I am a Registered Dietitian (RD) and a Full Member of the British Dietetic Association (BDA). I specialise in the areas of weight management, chronic health conditions and dietetic needs of those with learning disabilities. I have 23 years’ experience of working in the NHS and bring this to my freelance practice.
Using my NHS experience as a Weight Management Specialist Dietitian within a Tier 3 weight management service, I am ideally placed to support you if you are self-funding weight loss injections (Mounjaro, Wegovy or Saxenda) or medication (Orlistat/Xenical). I am experienced in supporting those with multiple health conditions bringing different dietary challenges. I offer evidence-based expert guidance, tailored support, a personalised plan and bring an empowering, encouraging holistic approach.
Using my NHS experience as a Long Covid Lead Dietitian, my personal experience of MS and living with someone with psoriatic arthritis and fibromyalgia, I bring a unique perspective on the multiple challenges of long-term energy limiting autoimmune inflammatory conditions. I’m passionate about supporting people to eat well for better health in the here and now, despite the difficult symptoms (including unwanted weight gain) that these conditions can bring.
I am a lead member of a working group of UK Dietitians focussing on supporting those with energy limiting conditions (including ME/CFS, Long Covid, Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS) and Postural Tachycardia Syndrome (PoTS).
Using my NHS experience as a Specialist Learning Disabilities Dietitian I am keen to use my skill and expertise to provide training for those providing care to adults with learning disabilities. I can offer tailor-made programmes to educate and empower carers who work with and support this client group.
I am currently the Education Officer for the BDA’s Learning Disabilities Sub Group. In 2024 I co-facilitated the BDA’s virtual classroom courses “Advancing Dietetics in Learning Disabilities” and “Assessing Capacity regarding Diet, Weight and Health”.
I will be co-delivering a workshop "From Awareness to Practical Solutions: Nutrition and Healthy Living for Better Health" at the British Institute of Learning Disabilities (BILD) annual Growing Older with Learning Disabilities (GOLD) conference on 12 March 2025.
