Joanne Durkin
My name is Jo Durkin, I’m a registered Dietitian in Cardiff, Wales. I have been working as a Dietitian for over 7 years in a variety of specialty areas in the NHS in both England and Wales. I have worked with many different groups and communities; in Nursing homes, Care homes, Educational settings, hospitals and with Community groups; delivering education to Health care staff, medical staff and other Health Care Professionals. I am registered with the Health Care Professionals Council and a member of the British Dietetics Association.
My career so far in the NHS so far has brought me to many different areas; Weight management consultations and group work, IBS consulting and group work, Nutrition support in elderly care, Enteral feeding in range of conditions; Neurological disorders, Brain injuries, Stroke, HIV patients, Renal patients on Dialysis and patients with Renal conditions. I also worked during the COVID-19 pandemic in the Dragon's Heart Hospital which is the Principality Stadium, providing nutritional support to those patients who were suffering with the COVID-19 virus.
I have a special interest and experience in providing support for people struggling with side effects from cancer treatments; Chemotherapy, Radiotherapy, Immunotherapy and surgery. Throughout my years of service, I have worked with patients at different stages of their cancer journey and I am dedicated to helping clients reach their goals through personalised strategies and tailored nutrition.
I am committed to helping others navigate the often-overwhelming world of nutrition. My area of expertise is in Cancer and Oncology and my current role is based in a Cancer Care Hospital, advising and helping patients navigate their cancer treatments and the side effects. I also offer pre-treatment and post-treatment dietary advice alongside other areas listed below.
