This new course developed by the BDA Obesity specialist group aims to empower dietitians working with adults with obesity to feel confident in being able to raise the topic of weight management and to explore the range of evidence-based behavioural change and diet interventions available.
At the end of the day, participants should;
- have a greater awareness of what it feels like to be a person living with obesity
- be confident in being able to sensitively raise the importance of weight management in a non-judgemental and non-stigmatising way
- have a knowledge of mental health, psychological and social needs and where to identify appropriate support
- have knowledge of the range of different behavioural change strategies that have been proven to be effective in supporting weight management
- have knowledge of a range of diet (and physical activity) interventions that have been proven to be effective in supporting weight management
