Dealing with patients and reflecting their needs is an ever-changing landscape as we develop new ways to deliver care. Being responsive to these changes means the medicines management component needs to be equally flexible. Progression to Independent Prescribing has always been the goal and understanding how this aspect of the patient journey is key to success is fundamental to understanding how you, as the front line practitioner, can be part of the steps to benefit the wider health economy.

About Matthew - He has worked across clinical, operational, strategic and transformational roles in the NHS since 2003 as well as holding a Visiting Lecturer's post with a focus on MSK pharmacology. During his career he spent time at the Dept of Health on the project board that supported the implementation of independent prescribing for physiotherapists and podiatrists in the UK. He has a passion for patient centred care and evidence based practice. He held an NHS Consultant post & previously a thriving private practice in London, UK alongside senior operational management roles. He was appointed Adjunct Clinical Professor at QUT in 2020. With a move to UAE he focussed on system wide clinical transformation as part of the Group CMO directorate. Now back in the UK he is working in senior / director level positions focussed on patient outcomes, experience along with performance improvement roles. He also has three Fellowships including one from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow.
