About the speaker
Gillian has worked as a paediatric dietitian in the NHS for nearly 20 years, having graduated from Queen Margaret University College, Edinburgh in 2003 with a BSc (Hons) degree in Dietetics. Gillian was appointed to NHS Lothian in late 2019 to develop a paediatric dietetic-led coeliac service with the support of Dr Peter Gillett (Consultant Paediatric Gastroenterologist). The post was funded following the completion of the Scottish Government Modernising Outpatients Programme; Gastroenterology collaboration test of change. The service currently receives approx. 120 new referrals each year with a review caseload of approx. 500 children & young people with coeliac disease. As a coeliac herself, Gillian is committed to improving services for young people with coeliac disease and working collaboratively with colleagues across Scotland and further afield.
