Hosted by Oncology Specialist Group and Head and Neck Sub-Group
The webinar will discuss the extended role of the dietitian in Head and Neck cancer patients in prescribing and passing naso gastric tubes (NGTs) and the benefits that this can bring to patients and the Head and Neck service as a whole. The extended role of passing NGTs will discuss how this role came about, the training involved, some case studies and the future development of this extended role. The role of the dietetic prescriber is discussed in the context of its current use in the head and neck on-treatment radiotherapy clinic. We will look briefly at the training required and steps to begin prescribing, how supplementary prescribing works in practice for this patient cohort, including what is prescribed (the CMP), importance of joint working with medical and other non-medical prescribers and future plans for data collection on prescribing as part of service evaluation.
