Module 4 - Dietetic Management of Inherited Metabolic Disorders

A highly specialised module focusing on the dietary management of children with inherited metabolic diseases. This module is designed for metabolic dietitians but will also provide essential knowledge for those encountering metabolic patients in a secondary care setting.  For those working with adults with metabolic conditions, this course will provide background to support your knowledge but will be paediatric focused. View Example Programme.

Bookings are now open to international delegates. International applicants will be required to be Registered Healthcare Professionals in your own country.  You are unable to register for MSc credits, the course would be undertaken for CPD only. Certificate of attendance from the BDA will be provided at the end of the course.

This module is open to: 

•    Practising Dietitian

•    Practising Doctor/Nurse 

•    Practising International Dietitian/Doctor/Nurse working in the field of Paediatrics and Inherited Metabolic Diseases

Module 4 takes place virtually and in person on the following dates, you are required to attend all four dates;

  •     Welcome Session: Wednesday 24 September - 5pm until 7pm (Virtual)
  •     Part 1: 7 and 8 October 2025 (BDA office in Birmingham)
  •     Part 2: 21 and 22 October 2025 (Virtual)
  •     Post tutorial: TBC (Virtual)

Each module is endorsed by the BDA upon completion of pre-course work and attendance at a four-day taught module. The modules are also incorporated into the MSc Advanced Professional Practice (Paediatric Dietetics) course, in partnership with the University of Plymouth. Each module has an award of 20 MSc credits attached, upon completion of pre- coursework, attendance at the four-day taught module and post-course assignment.  View the Course Brochure for further information

If you are registering to undertake this module for MSc credits, you will be required to complete an MSc level assignment in order to pass the module. The assignment requires strong academic writing and critical appraisal skills. In order to ensure you are best placed to succeed at this assignment,  we strongly advise that you should enrol and complete the Applying Evidence to Practice module first, before enrolling on this paediatric module.
