Hosted by Learning Disabilities Sub-Group
People with learning disabilities are more likely to be overweight / obese or underweight than the general population bringing about an increased risk of other health problems, which are largely preventable.
Gaps in knowledge around nutrition and cooking skills remain in the general public, and so with minimal training in this area for carers and support staff it is clear that further opportunities are needed to support people with a learning disability in making healthier choices.
Many of our patients live with multiple co-morbidities that may have specific dietary guidance which can be challenging for carers to navigate or understand. This webinar aims to highlight the challenges that impact on carers’ influences in supporting healthy diet and lifestyle choices, and bring together practical approaches from a range of dietitians working with adults who have mild to moderate learning disabilities and their carers.
The webinar will be hosted on MS Teams.
