Chronic Kidney disease associated pruritus (CKD-aP) is an under-recognised and under-reported condition that can have a significant impact on patient's lives. In this live webinar, Prof James Burton, Consultant Nephrologist, Kelly Lambert, Renal dietitian and Maryam Khorsandi, Renal Pharmacist will discuss the high prevalence of CKD-aP, the impact it has on quality of life, its pathophysiology and discuss a practical approach on how CKD-aP can be screened and diagnosed. Following this there will be a panel discussion and a live Q&A. Management and treatment options for CKD-aP will not be discussed during this webinar.

More about Professor James Burton - he leads a bench-to-bedside programme of research that includes early assessment and reduction of cardiovascular risk in patients with chronic kidney disease as well as leading clinical trials to reduce symptom burden and improve the quality of life for people with kidney failure on dialysis. These have shaped national and international guidelines on the management of kidney disease.
In 2024, James was recognised for his leadership in research with an NIHR Senior Investigator Award; as well as being Chief Investigator for several NIHR funded studies, he has chaired a number of trial governance committees and is a member of the NIHR EME funding panel. He is currently the Clinical Vice-President of the UK Kidney Association.
Kelly Lambert - Renal Dietitian from the University of Wollongong.
More about Kelly Lambert - she is an Associate Professor and Advanced Accredited Practicing Dietitian at the University of Wollongong in New South Wales, Australia. Kelly has nearly three decades of experience as a clinical dietitian, with the majority of her clinical career as specialist kidney dietitian. Kelly’s research interests focus on helping people with kidney disease live better lives. She is passionate about helping people living with kidney disease to make optimal diet and lifestyle choices. To achieve this, she works as Co-Director of the Kidney Lifestyle Research Group and Deputy Director of Health Innovations at the University of Wollongong.
Maryam Khorsandi - Specialist Renal pharmacist from Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.
