Industry Specialist Group AGM: Expert Panel Q&A on implementing sustainable practices in industry

Hosted by the Industry Specialist Group

The BDA Industry Specialist Group would like to invite you to their AGM to hear updates on the group’s activities in 2024. This will be an opportunity to hear from committee members and share your feedback.

We will also be hosting an expert panel Q&A on implementing sustainable practices as a dietitian working in industry, with guests Tanya Haffner, Ali Morpeth and Rebecca Tobi.

We would love to hear from you, our members, to discuss challenges, success stories and learning opportunities relating to implementing sustainable practices in industry. Following on from the survey we recently circulated diving deeper into sustainability, the Q&A will ask sustainability experts on their views and advice on how to drive more sustainability within their work.

Speakers

Tanya Haffner - CEO RD Nutrilicious and MyNutriWeb

With 30+ years of experience working across the healthcare and food sectors, she is passionate about advocating for better food and nutrition as a force for good: for business, health and planet. She leads on healthy and sustainable diet solutions and partnerships working with and supporting professionals, organisations and brands to deliver on nutrition, health and sustainability. She has also received the Caroline Walker Trust Award for Freelance Nutritionist of the Year 2021 for outstanding work in promoting public and planetary health to maintain and advance the standards of food and nutrition. She has written two consumer books, co-edited 10 nutrition and health text books for health professionals and has recently contributed to a new chapter on sustainability in the Manual of Dietetic Practice. She is also current Chair of the British Dietetic Association’s Sustainable Diets Group, supporting members to embed sustainability across dietetic and nutrition practice.

Ali Morpeth - Director of Ali Morpeth Nutrition

Ali Morpeth (RNutr) is a consultant working at the intersection of health and sustainability.  She believes what we eat, and the way food is produced, is driving interrelated crises - to public health, climate and nature, but this isn’t inevitable. Instead, Ali has seen that working from farm to fork is a golden opportunity to drive the changes we need to see.

As an advisor to NGOs and responsible business, a Champion at the AgriFood Network+, an Affiliate of Fix our Food and a visiting researcher at Leeds University, Ali’s role is varied. The red thread tying it together is building a better food system for people + planet.

Rebecca Tobi RNutr - Senior business and investor engagement manager at the Food Foundation

Rebecca manages the Food Foundation’s business and investor engagement team, with oversight of the Foundation’s work engaging food businesses, investors and policy-makers with the need to transition the UK towards a more sustainable and healthy food system. This includes work on the Plating Up Progress benchmark, Peas Please, and other research projects which focus on shifting businesses towards more healthy and sustainable food portfolios. Rebecca is a Registered Nutritionist (RNutr, Public Health) with a background in science communication.

The webinar is free for BDA Industry Specialist Group members only.
