Cow's milk allergy is one of the most common food allergies in childhood. Whilst the burden of disease is carried primarily by the young, there are older children and adolescents that continue to be allergic. Cow's milk allergy can impact on growth and development in children, an age, when cow's milk either in food or in drink contributes significantly to macro and micronutrient intake. There is also evidence of this allergy impacting on the quality of life of children and their families. This presentation will cover the nutritional impact through ages and practical management tips.

Food allergen avoidance depends on accessible and accurate information about ingredients including regulated allergens as well as understanding the unintended presence of other allergens. Whether printed on packaging, written on menus or boards, listed on platforms and apps, communicated orally by staff, face to face or on the phone, or by email or message, identifying allergens in food or drink is critical for consumer safety and is regulated by law.
About Hazel - Hazel is a leading food allergy advocate, expert patient, researcher and university lecturer. As a food hypersensitive consumer, she informs and shapes allergen risk assessment and develops innovative and effective training programmes. Her research includes consumer and business behaviour, the quality of life and cost of living with food hypersensitivity, understanding and recording severe and fatal reactions and the regulatory context of food allergy.
