CVRM Medicine: taking a holistic approach with Dr Kevin Fernando, GP Partner, North Berwick Health Centre presenting virtually
Cardiovascular, renal and metabolic conditions are all interlinked; moreover CVD and CKD in the presence of T2D worsen each other, leading to an increase in morbidity and mortality. However provision of healthcare in the UK is driven by single-condition models of care which is resource-intensive and significantly impacts the patients journey of care. There needs to be a reconfiguration in delivery of healthcare away from a disease-centred approach to a more holistic person-centred model.
