This online course introduces dietitians to the dietetic assessment and treatment of ARFID in adults and children. It will be useful for dietitians working in the community, mental health, and acute settings. The course will be presented by dietitians with many years of experience in the field and will include case studies, practical sessions, and opportunities for discussion. There will be signposting to a wide range of resources and references.

The course will cover the assessment process, treatment pathways, how to manage ARFID within an MDT and also where there is no specific ARFID pathway.  Topics will include taking a focussed history, medical risk and practising within scope, vitamin and mineral supplementation, managing in different environments, practical sessions on food exposure and sensory considerations.

  • To be able to differentiate ARFID from other eating disorders

  • To understand how to support clients on managing to eat in different environments
  • To understand the importance of supporting parents holistically
  • To appreciate MDT working for ARFID
